Wahlinformationen des Referat für Internationales

Liebe Internationals,

es finden bald eine für uns die wichtigen Wahlen der Kommunalen Ausländer:innenvertretung Frankfurt statt. (english below)

Wir Ausländer:innen leben, studieren, arbeiten und mitgestalten Frankfurt wie auch alle Anderen. Diejenigen von uns, die aus anderen EU-Ländern kommen, sind berechtigt, im gleichen Maße an der Kommunalwahl teilzunehmen wie die Deutschen. Jedoch dürfen die sogenannten Nicht-EU-Ausländer nicht mitbestimmen. In weniger als einem Monat findet in der Stadt die Kommunalwahl statt, an der Drittstaatler nicht teilnehmen. Jedoch gibt es eine Möglichkeit abzustimmen, und zwar: die Kommunale Ausländer:innenvertretung (KAV) zu wählen.
Die KAV wird ausschließlich von Ausländer:innen oder Menschen mit mehr als nur deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit gewählt. Die Vertretung wird aus Kandidierendenlisten gebildet, die aus Ausländer:innen oder Deutschen mit mehr als nur deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit bestehen. Das ist das Gremium, das uns repräsentieren soll und in der Stadtpolitik, wie im Parlament und seinen Ausschüssen mitreden kann und über das Recht verfügt, Anträge zu stellen. 
Die Wahl geht so:  

• Wenn ihr in Frankfurt wohnhaft seid, musst ihr einen Brief dazu bereits erhalten haben. 
• Über den QR-Code im Brief könnt ihr auf Beantragung der Briefwahl zugreifen. 
• Nachdem ihr eure Daten online angegeben und abgeschickt habt, bekommt ihr Unterlagen zur Briefwahl nach Hause zugeschickt.
• Nach dem in den Unterlagen einen Kreuz gesetzt habt, schickt ihr den Brief entweder per Post oder kommt dort persönlich vorbei und werft ihn in deren Postfach.
• Hier ist die Adresse: Wahlamt, Briefwahllokal, Stiftstr. 29, 60313 Frankfurt am Main.
   

Ihr solltet die ausgefüllten Wahlunterlagen bis zum 10.03.2026 abgeschickt haben, sodass es noch beim Wahlamt ankommen kann. Der Brief muss bis Sonntag den 15.03.2025 18 Uhr beim Wahlamt angekommen sein.

Dear Internationals,

there will be an election happening soon that are important for us: The election of the Municipal foreigners:internal representation Frankfurt. 

We internationals live, study, work and help shape Frankfurt as well as everyone else. Those of us who come from other EU countries are entitled to participate in the local elections to the same extent as Germans. However, the so-called non-EU foreigners are not allowed to vote. In less than a month, the city will hold local elections in which third-country nationals cannot take part. However, there is one way to vote, namely: to elect the Municipal Foreigners' Representation (KAV). 

The KAV is chosen exclusively by migrants or German nationals with more than just German citizenship. The KAV consists of lists of candidates represented by immigrants or Germans with more than just German nationality. This is the body that is supposed to represent us and has a say in city politics, as well as in parliament and its committees, and has the right to submit proposals.

The election goes like this:

• If you are a resident of Frankfurt, you must have already received a letter regarding the election. 
• You can use the QR code in the letter to access the application for postal voting. 
• After you have entered and submitted your data online, you will receive documents for the postal vote sent to your home.
• After you have put a cross in the documents, you either send the letter by post or come by there in person and leave it in their mailbox.
• Here is the address: Wahlamt, Briefwahllokal, Stiftstr. 29, 60313 Frankfurt am Main. 

You should have sent the completed election documents by 10.03.2026, so that it can still arrive at the election office on time. The letter must arrive at the election office by Sunday 15.03.2025, 6 pm.
